…brought nothing in — carry nothing out!

Just read a couple of verses that jumped out to me in 1 Timothy 6.
[vs.7] “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
[vs.12] “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called, and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

This puts all of life in perspective. We brought nothing into our earthly life and will take nothing out.

We are all eternal beings and will either:
(1) be with God, our Creator, or
(2) exist in the consequence of our rebellion.

The temporal things of Earth (such as wealth, fame, and power) are not worth what God has offered us.

It is my personal desire to fight the good fight of faith and point others to the person of Jesus. He claimed to be God in human form and backed up that claim through His sinless life, painful death, and then — something no ordinary human could ever do — His resurrection.

I confess my faith and trust in Him before anyone who will listen.

This is REAL! Please don’t ignore His offer of a relationship that is personal and forever.

Check out this short article called, “How To Be Sure You Are a Christian.”

Kinds of Governments.

There are numerous kinds of government in the world.

The United States is a Constitutional Republic.  That is where our leaders are elected to represent us in the decisions of government.

In a Democracy a majority of people make decisions on every issue.  Not very effective because not every individual has all the information to choose wisely on every issue.

Another kind of government is known as an Oligarchy.  This is when a small number of wealthy people are in control behind the scenes; and these powerful and elite few pull the strings of government to their benefit.

In the current Presidential election, notice that the candidate of one party has not received the votes of any citizens.  She has been put on the ballot by powerful and wealthy people without her having received a single vote from the citizens of America.  The Democrat primaries voted for Joes Biden, but a political coup has taken place, and a different candidate was installed then rubber stamped at a staged convention.

I propose that the “Democrat Party” is now a misnomer.  It is no longer promoting democracy in any way.  The party should now be referred to as – the Oligarch Party.

Tell the truth!

However, when I see the falsehoods that are told about the Republican Party and Donald Trump in this election, it is clear that TRUTH is seldom a strong suit for Democrats!

That’s my Trumpet Blast for today.

…for such a time as this.

I was reading Mordecai’s instruction to Queen Esther when the plot had been made to annihilate the Jewish people:

“Do not think in your heart that you will escape in this king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise … from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:13-14)

Catch that – “…who knows whether you have come …for such a time as this.”

God sometimes puts specific people in a position to be used to accomplish His will. Esther had become a queen, so she was able to boldly act to save people from an annihilation plotted by an evil man.

I believe our nation is in deep trouble today. I sense we are being sold out in a plot that opposes God and promotes all kinds of sin through a man focused political ideology that seeks to make us submit to human government instead of our Creator God.

This may be God’s judgement on us because we have sinned against God in so many ways. We have opposed God through promotion of all manner of perverted sexual sin and perversion of spiritual truth by denial of Jesus as the Son of God.

Fear of God and dependence on Him is the only solution to man’s true problem. We will never fix man and his actual problem with any political solution.

We are told in Ezekiel 33 that when we see danger approaching there is the necessity to sound a Warning Trumpet.

What we really need is a spiritual awakening in which people recognize the reality of WHO Jesus of Nazareth claimed to be and is. He lived up to His claims and then confirmed His identity as God in human form by His resurrection.

I (like Esther in the passage above) cannot be silent. Perhaps God wants me to say what is on my heart for such a time as this.

I am led to ask if you and I (if you are also a Christ follower) are positioned by God to act — “for such a time as this.” May we be bold and obedient.

I hope for many to be drawn to faith and for all believers to point others to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Please join me in praying what Christ taught us to pray in the Lord’s Prayer: “…deliver us from evil.”

That’s my trumpet blast for today.

Who Jesus Claimed to be…

I read today this verse — John 19: 7.

The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.”

Jesus had been turned over to Pilot with a request to crucify Him. Pilot prefers not to execute Jesus, but the Jewish religious leaders deny His Deity and fail to recognize that He is the fulfillment of the prophecies about the Christ and do not know who Jesus is. They saw Jesus as a threat to their authority and power.

They understand completely the claim of Jesus that He is God in human form. But they reject all that Jesus has revealed in His years of public ministry and now seek His death.

But reality is that Jesus is God. He is fully God and fully man.
Jesus is the Creator of all that exists — both physical and spiritual.
There are two realities:
(1) the Creator and
(2) His Creation.

Every person much decide in this life to:
(1) receive Him as Lord and Savior or
(2) reject the truth.

I have received Jesus and hope to point others to Him.
The question, “Who is this Jesus?” is the most important question that every person must answer.

It is my hope that anyone who sees this will choose wisely.

That’s my “Trumpet Blast” for today.

The Great Commandment …

I read today in Matthew 22:37-40.

“… You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
“This is the great and first commandment.
“And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
“On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

This is the response Jesus gave to the question, “Which is the great commandment in the Law?” It all is built upon love of God. This is not a flippant admiration. It is love with all our heart, soul, and mind.

Our love and fear of God is to be the dominant thing in our life.

Our love of God will naturally spill over into love and concern for other people. We are to love and be concerned for others on this same level that we love and are concerned for ourselves.

This includes concern for their well-being in this life — but also concern for their eternal destiny.

It means we are to love them as fellow members of the human race, created in the image of our Creator God.  But even further, we must be deeply concerned that they will find faith in Christ and have a relationship with Him.

How can we as believers keep the message of the Christian Gospel to ourselves when others so desperately need to hear it.  If we really love someone, we certainly don’t want them to face the consequences of rejecting God’s offer of forgiveness of our sin.

May we all love God like this and have this level of love and concern for others.

Would you like some “secret counsel?”

I was reading today in Psalm 25:14 where it says :

“The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and He makes known to them His covenant.”

I found an interesting footnote regarding this verse in my ESV Bible.  It says that the word “friendship” in this verse can also translated “secret counsel.”

It seems that God reveals his “secret counsel” to those who fear God, which would be understanding of reality that is beyond what is commonly held.  We are told in Proverbs that  “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”

Unfortunately, there are far too many people who reject and rebel against our Creator .  Consequently, they will never be able to comprehend, know, and understand His friendship or secret counsel.  They reject even the truth that has been given broadly to all who live.

These people remain in a state of their false beliefs and assumptions that leads them away from truth and reality. They believe the lies of the devil and the false narratives of man-focused ideologies and philosophies that have their foundation in denying God and the truth that he has revealed to mankind in Scripture.

I desire to know truth.

I want to understand more fully the covenant that God has made with mankind.

I want to be in God’s friendship and know his secret counsel that will guide me to understand  how I could best honor Him.  It is my hope that these are your desires as well.

That’s my trumpet blast for today.

….do not refuse Him who is speaking!

I was reading in Hebrews 12:25 where it said,

“See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less shall we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.”

Think about that and read it again.

“See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less shall we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.”

God offers to us a relationship with Himself that saves us, forgives our sin, and allows us to be with Him in heaven forever.

Unfortunately, some reject His offer of a relationship.

They may hear about God’s offer from people they know on Earth.  They may reject the people who share it.  They may be pastors, evangelists, or just people who they know who believe in and follow Christ.  Rejecting people is not the issue, it is rejecting God.

It is God Himself who created everything that exists and we are told that He did it by speaking.  The passage tells us that it is His voice that speaks to us from heaven — the same voice that created everything.  It is the Holy Spirit of God that draws us to faith in Christ through His grace.

If we reject Him who warns us, understand there is no escape through any false religion or man-focused philosophy or ideology. We are told that our hope is in Christ alone.

Those who are Christ followers have the privilege and responsibility to warn others of this danger of rejecting God.  It doesn’t matter if we are rejected.  It is the rejection of God Himself that is the danger. And this is everyone’s eternal choice.

May any who read this choose wisely!

That my Trumpet Blast for today.

Speak whether they listen or not…

Today several verses really jumped out at me…

“But you shall speak My words to them whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious.”  Ezekiel 2: 7

“And he said to me, “Son of man, feed your stomach, and fill your body with this scroll which I am giving you.” Then I ate it, and it was sweet as honey in my mouth.” Ezekiel 3: 3

“Moreover, He said to me, “Son of man, take into your heart all My words which I shall speak to you, and listen closely.”  Ezekiel 3: 10

These are the words that God spoke to Ezekiel in a vision. He is instructed to speak the message that God gives him to the people.  Ezekiel is told to speak what God gives him to say boldly – regardless of whether the people listen or not.

Today we have God’s word through the Bible and He speaks to us as we read it.

God gives this revealed truth to us and we are to fill our body with these words from God. For believers the word of God will be sweet as we consume it.

We are not to be flippant and indifferent about what God gives us in scripture.  We are to take it into our heart, consuming His words, and we are to listen closely.

Spending time in God’s word– the Bible– will open our heart to truth that radically changes us. Listen closely!

But we are not to just keep this truth from God to ourselves. It is to be shared with others around us who need to hear.  That’s why I share these “Trumpet Blasts.” Some who hear will be drawn to our Creator; but we know that it will come across as foolishness to those who rebel and reject God.

It is not my responsibility to persuade, only to proclaim the message of God to those around me. This is done in the power of the Holy Spirit of God that comes and lives within all Christ followers. I seek to be obedient and share what God shows me in His word and leave the response of others up to them and to God.

I desire to be obedient and point others to the reality of who Jesus Christ really is.  Hope you will, too.

That’s my Trumpet Blast for today.

how to stop being a stumbling block…

Was just reading this —

“And the Lord’s bond servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.”    2 Timothy 2:24-26.

I am a bondservant. I have come to be a willing servant to the Creator God of the universe.  He has given me these instructions about how I am to live my life before others:

  • not quarrelsome
  • kind to all
  • able to teach
  • patient when wronged
  • gently correcting those who are opposed to the truth of the gospel.

I know I have failed to live up this these in so many ways, but I desire to become more like Christ.  I sincerely hope my failure won’t be a stumbling block to anyone who would consider the claims of Jesus about Himself.

Why? Because God may grant these people repentance and faith, leading to the knowledge of the truth. Truth is certainly a good thing to discern in the midst of all the false narratives in our culture today.

We’re told that they may “come to their senses.”  When they do they are able to escape the snare of the devil that has misled so many around the world. Until we have Christ, we are held captive by the devil himself — the enemy of all who live.

Those who have not yet put their faith in Christ alone are continually tricked into doing Satan’s will.  They are misled into believing false, man-focused ideologies and philosophies until they are set free by faith in Christ.

It is my hope that many may be drawn to faith in Christ and that all of us who follow Christ may be usable to point others in that direction, which is the only way to God.

That’s my trumpet blast for today.
