Pat Pearce

Allow me a moment to introduce myself and tell you about the most important aspects of my life.

I am Pat Pearce.

I was raised going to church nearly every time the doors were open.  But it meant little to me.  During those years if I ever heard clear presentation of the gospel – I missed it completely.

When I left home for college I was on my own and free to make my own choices, which included nothing related to church.

I had a lot of misconceptions of what Christianity was all about.  I believed that it was just a list of rules – “do this but don’t do that.”

I figured that Christianity could be summed up like this:

·       If you want to do it – STOP!
·       If you don’t want to do it – START!
·       And, if you make yourself miserable enough on Earth, you’ll get to go to Heaven when you die.

That perspective changed my sophomore year when another student who had become a Christian only two weeks earlier shared a little booklet with me called the Four Spiritual Laws.

To be honest, I was not looking for religion and gave them a pretty hard time.

I threw up all the objections I knew, but the big problem was that I didn’t like the idea of anyone running my life but me.

But I heard some things I had not heard before about the person named Jesus.  The claims that He made about Himself – that He was God walking around in a human body — really hit home.

I had heard about Jesus but never knew that He offered a means of actually knowing God personally.

I really struggled with all this for a couple of weeks.  I was fighting it.  I read and re-read that Four Spiritual Laws booklet over and over, but could not bring myself to the point of allowing God to direct my life.

During this time of struggle, I attended some student meetings and observed something different in the lives of the students who openly admitted to being Christ followers.

After an internal skirmish with all this I finally reached the point where I knew if Jesus was who He claimed to be – God in human form and Creator of all that exists – that I had no other choice but to allow Christ to have His rightful place in my life.

That was just the beginning.  That small step of faith, to yield to Him the control seat or “throne” of my life, began what has been an exciting adventure.  I was born spiritually because God in the person of the Holy Spirit came and has lived inside me ever since.  I saw a change in my desires and actions.  I did not work to change myself, I just began to understand and see everything in the world from a new and different perspective.  I could see through the manipulative lies that the world was telling people about what would bring true happiness and peace.

I found something that was so profound that I wanted others to discover it as well.

It was Campus Crusade for Christ that led me to faith, grounded me in my understanding of my relationship with Christ, and then equipped me to share what I had discovered with others.

That is the plan that Jesus gave to those who would come after Him.

I was involved with Campus Crusade for Christ in college but lost contact with the movement after graduation.

The war in Vietnam was going on and I fought there serving as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.  I battled there the evils of Marxism, Socialism, and Communism.  These ideologies are also dangers about which I need to sound a Warning Trumpet.

Human civilization is a very thin veneer over the true depraved nature of mankind.

During a brief period I had little contact with others who followed Christ.  Many people who knew me during that time probably would not have known I was a Christian.  But there was a nagging void deep within my life that made me aware of how much I desired and needed a vital relationship with God and with other believers.

After military service I moved to Birmingham, Alabama and became a member at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.  I had never been in a church like that before.  I had discovered a church that was truly involved in meeting the spiritual needs of people and was reaching out to communicate the truths about Jesus Christ with others.

At that time I was working in television advertising at Channel 13, which was the NBC affiliate in the Birmingham market.

One day while attending a men’s luncheon that the church held downtown for businessmen, I heard about a media event that had just been held in Atlanta that they wanted to bring to our city.  It was a media campaign that worked with numerous local churches to present the message about Christ broadly.  This was the I found it! campaign that was held in many cities all across America in late 70’s.  It utilized TV, radio, billboard, newspaper and thousands of bumper stickers to answer the question of the teaser ads, “I found it!”

People began to ask, “What did you find?”

The answer was, “I found NEW LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST.”

Hearing about the vision for bringing this event to town while I worked in TV was exciting.  As soon as he quit talking — I button-holed the speaker and pushed a business card into his hand and told him that this was what I had been waiting for, how do I get involved.  I joined the organizing team and served as the media coordinator for the strategy in the Birmingham market.

It was so fulfilling to use my profession in media to have an impact for what I had discovered in my relationship with Christ, that I began for the first time to consider full-time Christian work.

My wife and I were led to join the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in 1977.  The organization required a 2- year commitment.  We assumed that we would serve those two years then go back into a career in business.

However, after 2 years my wife and I looked around at the world and came to  a realization that there was no other way we could invest our lives that could have as much impact and significance as working to advance the Great Commission that was given to His followers to make disciples everywhere on earth.

We spent 12 years at the organization’s HQ in California.  For six years I was director of Mass Media  and coordinated the media production of numerous projects for the various ministry divisions.  Then in 1989 we moved to Georgia to launch a new ministry that would serve as a resource to churches and individual Christians with a heart for ministry, providing evangelism and discipleship resources that Campus Crusade had developed and found effective.

The ministry expanded over the years as we provided from less than ten to more than 1200 titles as well as providing warehouse and distribution in support of many ministry divisions that made up the organization that sought to reach various segments of the population.

In 2003 we became the publishing division responsible for the core materials of Campus Crusade.  I will never get over the realization that I had become the publisher of the same evangelism booklet that God had used to lead me to faith back in college those many years ago, the Four Spiritual Laws.

Another resource we also helped distribute was the JESUS Film.  Through the JESUS Video Project, more than 20 million copies of the film were placed in homes across America.  This is the most accurate film ever produced on the life of Christ.  It has been translated into more languages and has been seen by more people than any other film in history.  The book of Luke was used as the script so there were no “Hollywood editorial freedoms” allowed with the story.  In the film the character of Jesus only speaks and does what is recorded in scripture.

We are now retired from Campus Crusade after completing 40 years of that original two-year commitment.

Since the time in college when I first yielded the control seat of my life to Christ, the importance of that relationship has continued to grow.

That relationship is today the most important aspect of my life.  I have found something so important in this relationship with Christ that I want you and others to discover it as well.

That is why I have created this web site.

In recent years God has impressed upon me a passage in Ezekiel, chapter 33.  It tells that if a watchman on the wall of his city sees danger coming, he has a responsibility to sound a warning trumpet.  If people hear the warning and respond to it they can avoid the danger.  If they ignore the warning and do not take action, they will suffer the consequences of ignoring the warning.

However, if the watchman sees danger and does not warn the people, God says that He will hold the watchman responsible for what occurs to those he did not warn.

I see danger and it is approaching.

The first danger is that our nation has lost its spiritual footing and has drifted away from wholeheartedly following God and obeying what He has revealed about Himself.  So many people, even many who are attending churches do not have assurance of their relationship with God or understand what God has offered through the life and work of Jesus that provides His means of offering a personal relationship with Him.

The reality is that all that exists on Earth and throughout the entire Universe was brought into existence by our Creator God.  He has revealed Himself through His creation and also more specifically through the written Word of Scripture.

He offers a plan for our life that provides the greatest meaning, purpose, and peace.  It is a free gift that we cannot earn.  But we need to repent and by faith receive Christ as Lord and Savior.  It is by grace through faith.

If you have never made the discovery or lack assurance that you have given God His rightful place on the control seat of your life, let me encourage you to hear the Warning Trumpet now.

I want to sound a Warning Trumpet to you individually to consider the claims of Jesus Christ and to receive Him as your Savior and Lord if you have never done this before.

I also want to warn about a second approaching danger.  This threat is the deceit contained in the many false messages in our culture that are being spread by the false ideologies of:  Humanism, Post Modernism, Progressivism, Socialism and Communism.

These are all man-focused philosophies and ideologies that deny the Truth that our Creator God has revealed to mankind.

Jesus stated clearly, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

With this second warning trumpet is I hope to awaken you to the reality of the spiritual war that is raging all around us.

We are told in Ephesians 6:12“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Be aware every minute that there is real evil in the world and there is a battle for the hearts and souls of people.  The enemy of God is Satan and the fallen angels that followed him.  He is a liar that desires to deceive us all with false claims that will lead people to embrace beliefs that are in opposition to the reality of God’s purpose and plan.

The man-focused idealism of a perfected man and a utopian society will always fail because of the common problem that all people share – we are sinful and need what God offers to us.

Do not be deceived by the lies.

I hope that you will hear the Warning Trumpet, explore the claims of Jesus, and give God His rightful place in your life.  If you do you will see the world through the eyes of God as you become the person God wants you to become.
