I was reading today in the One Year Bible (New Living Translation) and two passages really stood out to me.
“They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wounds.” — Jeremiah 8:11
“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives… Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom He gives…And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” — Colossian 3:16-17
In these two passages we see both THE PROBLM of mankind and THE SOLUTION that God intends.
All of mankind has “the mortal wound of sin.” The world tries to fix it with “superficial treatments” which are man-focused ideologies and philosophies that ignore the reality of our Creator God.
THE SOLUTION is the message of Jesus Christ.
We who understand this truth are to teach and counsel others around us with the wisdom the Holy Spirit gives to believers as He lives within those “born again.”
Christ followers are to live as “representatives of Lord Jesus.”
That’s our role and the call God has put on our life – to point others to Jesus. It is my sincere desire to be obedient to that call.
